IVISYS AB (‘IVISYS’) announces that the Canadian Intellectual Property Office has issued an official approval of the company’s patent ‘Method and Device for Finding Nearest Neighbor’. The patent covers a unique, and extremely fast, way of searching large databases, which is valuable in many fields other than image processing, the area focused on by IVISYS today. Besides Canada, the patent is also approved in the US, Japan and Denmark, indicating the patent’s novelty. Thereby, IVISYS has taken yet another step forward in securing its patent portfolio.

CTO Moatasem Chehaiber comments

‘We are pleased with yet another approval of this patent, this time from the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. We have already successfully filed patents with authorities across the Americas, Europe and in Asia, so this simply reaffirms that our approach to image processing is one of a kind,’ says Moatasem Chehaiber.

IVISYS now holds a significant number of patents; this is fully in line with the company’s strategy of preparing for its international expansion by securing its intellectual property in a prudent manner. IVISYS’s patent portfolio consists of three items, of which two are already widely recognized patents. As well as ‘Method and Device for Finding Nearest Neighbor’, the patent ‘Method and Device for Parallel Processing of Images’ is also widely approved; it covers a unique and ultra-high-speed process for image processing regarding the recognition and positioning of objects. Finally, IVISYS recently filed an application for a wholly new patent entitled ‘System and Method for Optical Inspection of an Object’ with the Swedish Patent and Registration Office. The patent application relates to a system for optical inspection, which, in general terms, provides homogeneous illumination of objects, thereby improving the overall accuracy of optical inspections.

‘We have secured our most important patents in several markets and, with each new, approved patent, we strengthen our case for the remaining pending applications. With the Canadian patent added to our IP assets, I can conclude that our IP strategy is working just as we had expected it to and I expect more successful approvals in the years to come’ says Moatasem Chehaiber, who is also the inventor of IVISYS’s patents.

As of today, IVISYS’ patent portfolio consists of:

‘Method and Device for Finding Nearest Neighbor’.

Approved in: Canada, China, Denmark, Japan USA,

Pending applications in: Europe-wide and India

‘Method and Device for Parallel Processing of Images‘

Approved in: China, Denmark, Japan and the US

IVISYS provides vision-based, quality inspection solutions for the industry, which can replace both manual and mechanical quality control. IVISYS’ unique, patented solutions make it possible to perform complex quality control while keeping the existing production flow unaffected. Unlike existing solutions, IVISYS provides solutions that make it possible to perform complex surface controls, control measurements on the micron level, and control multiple components in one instant process. The solutions are based on IVISYS’s patented image data processing, which differs fundamentally from the conventional processes used within vision systems today. IVISYS is capable of utilizing high-resolution cameras in the company’s image processing, while at the same time processing image information faster than the company’s competitors. The solutions offered have an average payback period of approximately six months for customers currently relying on mechanical or manual control.
