INTERVIEW WITH COOP

We had the opportunity. Staff talking about.

Coop continues to grow and make an impact with it’s new fully automated warehouse Coop Logistics, Eskilstuna, Sweden.

Coops warehouse is impressive and one of Europe’s largest fully automated warehouses with the 6oo meter Coop train entering the warehouse with robots loading/onloading the goods. The power-driven train is an efficient way of transporting goods in a sustainable way reducing the C02 footprint with 9600 ton or 20 % of the impact on the environment Yearly.

The warehouse provides more than 800 Coop and Stora Coop stores with goods in the category’s perishable, colonial and nonfood.

The staff is working side by side with the robots to secure a smooth delivery to Coops stores. One example is the new pallet inspection solution, the PALLETAI that helps to secure the quality of the pallets and sort the pallets in the right stacks.

Pallet handling is key to success for the return and empty goods team at Coop stays Fredrik Pettersson, Key user of return and empty goods pallet handling, at Coop Logistics AB. ‘Since we sort large amounts of many different pallet types daily the PALLETAI is crucial for us’ states Fredrik Pettersson. Before we had the PALLETAI we sorted the pallets manually, one pallet at a time. It was tedious, hard work, and boring, for the team members Fredrik Pettersson says.

In the beginning of the workday the speed, efficiency and accuracy were good; however, throughout the day the preciseness, speed, level of quality was significantly affected by tired and worn out workers. The PALLETAI has improved efficiency, speed, and accuracy by running nonstop 24/7’ says Fredrik Pettersson, Key user of return and empty goods pallet handling, at Coop Logistics AB. Also, the quality of pallets has increased states Fredrik Pettersson.

In addition to increased number of pallets being inspected, correct classification of pallets, increased good quality pallets in the system; the number of decreased sick leaves is something that Fredrik and his team is proud of. All enabled by the automated pallet inspection in the impressive fully automated warehouse by Coop.
